It's mid-October, midterms are in full swing, your professors are relentless with the workload and you are ready more than ever for a well-deserved break. But that's not how life works and you still have more than a month until Thanksgiving. It is so easy to become discouraged and frustrated at all the tasks and responsibilities on your plate, but it is so so so important to look past all of those things and see the bigger picture. Last Sunday when I was sitting in church, the pastor gave a sermon that really just struck home about all of these things. The way that you pray for good things to come your way, and they don't. And you can't help but wonder why. You don't know what you did to deserve your unanswered prayer. But sometimes, unanswered prayers are the biggest blessings and it's important to remember, especially during this part of the semester, that you have someone bigger on your side and will help you through anything.
1. “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18.
It can be super easy to focus on what you want right now, not what you are going to want in the future. You just have to remember the bigger picture, and you can get past your two tests in one day.
2. "Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” Proverbs 16:3.
When you commit to God you are putting your trust and faith into Him, and He will allow you to prosper.
3. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your path straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6.
This one's a super popular one, but it hits the nail on the head. It is so much smarter to rely on God's plan instead of your own because His will always be the better one.
4. “We walk by faith not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7.
My personal favorite verse. I have this hung up in my room at school and it's a constant reminder that there's so much going behind the scenes that I don't see nor understand but I have faith that everything will work out in the end.
5. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11.
When nothing is going your way and you want to give up, remembering that there is a bigger plan for you is the most reassuring thing out there.
