Being in a sorority can sometimes come with strings of negative stereotypes attached. However, most sorority women possess certain similar characteristics that make for genuine beauty, inside and out.
Women who are just as beautiful on the inside as they are externally are like rare gems, dazzling you at first. Once you find one, you want to hold onto it forever. Here are five traits that make you beautiful on the inside and out.
1. Caring. It is no secret that most women are innately caring. Sorority women have many things they care for. In addition to having much love and support for their sisters, each chapter has philanthropic matters that they spend great amounts of time supporting. Countless hours of hard work and dedication go into planning events to raise money and awareness for different worthy causes. Sorority women are passionate about making a positive difference in the world.
2. Confidence. There is a certain essence a woman has when she exudes confidence. It is a fine line to walk between having enough confidence, but not too much. Each sorority chapter is founded on certain values and traditions that have not changed since the chapter was founded. In order to see yourself as a fit for a certain chapter, you have to know what your values are. Seeing yourself for who you are and knowing what you're capable of is a trait that is sometimes looked down upon, especially for women, but it is one of the most important traits to have. Women who are confident, not cocky, are beautiful on the inside.
Steve Maraboli once said, "There is nothing more rare, nor more beautiful, than a woman being unapologetically herself; comfortable in her perfect imperfection. To me, that is the true essence of beauty."
3. Exuding power. There is nothing more powerful than a group of women working together for a greater good. Most sororities are composed of leaders, intelligent women looking to make a difference in the world. Individually, women are all unique, but together they have the ability to create a huge difference. Using that power for the greater good is a beautiful thing.
4. Endurance. Every single person in this world has their own story. Each story is unique and important, shaping people into who they are. Sharing stories with your sisters makes you realize just how much everyone has gone through and overcome. A different level of respect is established knowing that you are surrounded by so many perfectly imperfect women who are survivors and have endured their own hardships and grown from them. That growth is what makes a woman beautiful on the inside.
5. Responsibility. Sorority women are, typically, held to a higher standard. As women who represent a nationally known organization built on values and standards, there is a sense of responsibility to be the best you can be. Women are supposed to empower each other and help one another strive to grow into the best possible version of themselves. This sense of responsibility is one that is taken seriously by internally beautiful women.
Outer beauty does not mean much when it competes with an inner ugly. These certain traits can make a woman beautiful on both the inside and out. When woven together with genuine qualities it creates timeless beauty on the inside, and that is truly special.
