It’s especially hard going to college so far from home when you know for a fact that you’re a really family oriented person. For me, I’ve always been close with my brother and my parents and I love going to school far away but it does have its drawbacks. I’ve had my moments of being homesick and I’m sure everyone who lives far away can relate.

Here are five things I do that can cheer you up too if you’re homesick:

1. FaceTime Your Dog!!

This just puts an automatic smile on my face and I become some freak who talks to her dog like a human but it always puts me in a better mood.

2. Call Your Fam!

I talk to my mom if not every day, every other day. Call me clingy but she can always cheer me up and we can literally talk for hours even when we’ve caught each other up on everything and there’s nothing left to talk about.

3. Eat Some Ice-cream & Sweets!

I swear ice cream is an automatic mood improver. Who cares about those extra 500 calories. It’s worth it…..especially if it’s Ben and Jerry’s!

4. Surround yourself with your Friends

I know when I’m homesick it can make it hard to want to be with anyone or go out and do anything but force yourself to do it anyways. Surrounding yourself with happy people and it’ll take your mind off missing home.

5. Go To The Gym

I know I know...it’s exercise...but it's been proven that it increases your endorphins and puts you in a better mood, and just being in a better mood can help you not be as homesick!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
