5 Things The Girl With A Big Heart Can Relate To

Having a big heart is great. I say this because we have compassion. That compassion can be felt so deep and so strong at some times. Other times, that compassion can cut deep.

We have been given both a blessing and a curse. We love with all we've got, only sometimes it doesn't work out in our favor. There's one thing that is true about us though - we don't give up.

Here are five things girls with big hearts know to be true:

1. We are prone to trust people more than most.

This happens because if we see something good in someone, our first instinct is to give them the benefit of the doubt. No matter how many times we might have been screwed over, we give people chances to prove they are worthy of our trust. In general, we just want to see the best in people.

2. We get attached easily.

This is probably the worst one girls with big hearts know to be true. We don't want to get attached, but we care and love so deeply that it just happens. Our sensitive emotions lead us to invest ourselves into other people's lives.

3. We fall in love easily and hard.

Our hearts are so wide open and vulnerable. We have so much love to give, and all we want is for that to be reciprocated back to us. But no one ever can give or show the love that we do.

4. Some may say we're naive, but we're stubborn as hell.

If you make us upset, there's nothing you can really do except to just be there. We may forgive easily, but we certainly do NOT forget.

5. We follow our hearts, not our heads.

These can be two conflicting voices to listen to. But almost always we can count on following our heart rather than listening to our head. We have some pretty strong instincts, and we follow them.

For those of us with big hearts out there, it can be hard to relate to those that don't see life the way we do. Not everyone knows how to handle the size of our hearts, and that's okay. But without big-hearted people, our world would lack a whole lot of compassion and feeling.

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
