Missouri State has been my home for five years now and since basically campus has been closed and shut down there are five things I miss about school.

Actually going to class

As much as I always complained about going to class, I now realize I took it for granted. I really do love going to class. I love going and being able to see people and discuss with the professor and other students about the class and the topics that we were talking about. I also learn better when I am able to sit face to face and take notes and be in the now. Doing school online just does not do it for me, I am always so distracted and and I have no motivation. I miss waking up early and walking to class to start the new day. I want things to go back to the way things were, I am ready for it.

Study dates with my best friends

Studying by yourself is always nice, but studying with those who are very committed to passing the class with you are the best kind of people to study with. There were times were my friends and I would study date in the library and get stuff down and then there would be the times where we would be in the study room and just talk like there is no tomorrow and get stuff semi done. I miss having the study sessions especially since we would be able to teach each other something that we weren't too sure of and learn from each other. I just miss my best friends in general, laughing, joking, talking about silly things, and just being together all together.

Sports

Since my freshman year of college, I went to every sporting event that Missouri State had to offer. I didn't have a car and so doing things on campus was my way of keeping sane. The three sports that I really love are volleyball, hockey, and baseball. I went to every home game. Baseball is a spring sport and I was so excited for this season. Going to sporting events was my way of relaxing and having fun with friends. Then the Virus hit and sports got canceled and I miss it.

Seeing people on Campus

Being able to walk to class and see people on campus was always cool. I always loved how busy campus would be when it was super nice and people were out enjoying the sun or studying outdoors. Seeing campus very lively just made me smile and appreciate the opportunity I have to go to a school like Missouri State.

The Fountain

I would be lying if I said I did not miss the fountain. In my opinion, the fountain is a statement for Missouri State. Whenever I would have a bad day or if I was needing to do something, I would take walks to the fountain and sit there pondering about about just anything. I could sit there for hours just listening to the water or just admiring the beauty of it. Every time I walked by it, I would always smile or take a picture. Now that campus has basically closed, I miss being able to walk by it and dipping my toes in the water.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
