It is the Thanksgiving Holiday season! We always see everyone at the beginning of November posting on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media accounts something different every day about what they are thankful for. Some people does it every day of the month and others post for a few days or a couple of weeks and than they get caught up with other things and they forget about posting what they are thankful for the remaining days of the month. I decided that I would post my top five things that I am thankful for to keep the Thanksgiving spirit alive during the week of Thanksgiving because a lot of people think about Christmas rather than Thanksgiving.
Here are some things that I am thankful for:
1. Salvation
Salvation is really a priceless gift that we could never repay. Jesus did not have to die on the cross for us. He died so that we would be forgiven of our sins as long as we personally accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We should always be thankful for Salvation because it something that Jesus did not have to do, but he did it anyway. This is something I will be eternally grateful and thankful for. This means that I will never stop being thankful for m salvation that I have through Jesus Christ!
2. Friends
Friends is what has gotten me through every day, during high school, and now through college. You can say that my friends are pretty much family to me, especially here at college, because they encourage me all of the time, they are there for me whenever I need someone to talk to or to just hang out with me and do what friends are suppose to do! I could not imagine what life would be like if I did not have any friends! Life would be boring! It is always great to know that you have someone there for you whenever something happens or you just want to talk together! I will always be thankful for my friends, even if I have a disagreement at times with them.
3. Church Families
I am beyond blessed to be apart of two church families! One while I am at home and another one while I am at college! Whitesburg Baptist Church is my hometown church in Huntsville, Alabama and I could not stress enough on why it is a great church! Everyone loves the Lord and God's Word is constantly preached every Sunday and Wednesday night! I could not have asked for a better church family to be around! I am so thankful that God placed me at Whitesburg because that is where I found my true identity in Christ. My other church that I attend is Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, Mississippi. Morrison Heights is an awesome church as well! They love the Lord and the Word is preached every Sunday and Wednesday night! The community is absolutely amazing as well and I could never imagine about not being apart of Morrison Heights while I am college! They have challenged me in ways that I could have never imagined. I am so thankful and blessed that the Lord has placed me in both of these churches!
4. Family
I could not ask for a better family! Yeah, we have our ups and downs, but everyone does! My parents make sure I have everything that I need. My family has been there when I needed them. They supported me when I performed at football games, band concerts, and other functions with school and church. I am so thankful for them. If it was not for them, I would not be here!
5. My Band Directors
Yes, you read that right. I am thankful for my band directors! They have been a big part of my life since eighth grade! They have taught me music, most importantly, and they have also taught me daily life lessons. They have also impacted me in a way that I will never forget. They cared about me and just showed the simple things everyday during the day at class. Another thing that has brought me so close the them is from going on band trips every year. When you go on a group trip like that, you all become family. After starting college and getting used to a new band director, I am already close to him because he always asks you how you are doing everyday, especially when he can tell that you are not feeling good or not having a good day. Another thing I have noticed about band directors, they are always funny and comical! That helps some as well! I am thankful for all of the band directors I have had in the past five years and the one I have right now!
So, what are you thankful for? I challenge you to think about it some this week as we celebrate Thanksgiving with our family and friends.
