Summer is always the time to try new things in fashion and take risks, both day in and day out.
THis past semester, was a brand ambassador for ASOS, and they are an incredible company that always stays, not just on trend, but ahead of the trend. ASOS is where I bought a good bit of my wardrobe this summer, and even though September is just a few short weeks away, I plan to keep on wearing my favorite new items well into the next season!
When putting together your closet as a young collegiate, I've found it's essential to own both trendy, fun pieces as well as classic and timeless items. You never know how long trends are going to stay in style -- that's why it's always smart to spend less money on these items, and invest more in classic, simple clothes that you'll be able to wear over and over. However, there are some trends that I observed this summer that definitely have long term potential. Here are just a few I love and hope will stick!
1. Rompers. Not necessarily ideal when you have to go to the bathroom, but they're adorable, always flattering, and super easy to throw on. They're similar to dresses in that way -- people think you put a ton of effort into your look, when you barely had to do anything at all to look amazing.
2. T-shirt dresses. Another great and effortless way to look amazing. These dresses are so easy to wear, and so comfortable! Again, they look awesome on everyone, and every body type. These will be super easy to style with oversize sweaters and boots come cooler weather!
3. Bright shorts. Stripes, animal prints, tie die, neon -- I love the eye catching shorts trend. Pair a cute pair of bold shorts with a plain black tank, or white crop top, and you're good to go!
4. Jumpsuits. A romper's more mature, equally cute sister. These are perfect for the fall, because they have long pants to keep your legs warm! While you've been able to rock this look, sans jacket for the past few months, pairing your favorite jumpsuit with a blazer is a great way to go from summer sexy to autumn chic!
5. Bold crop tops. This is the first summer I've felt confident enough to go out wearing a crop top, and I've found myself collecting more and more as the summer goes on. I've mostly been pairing them with denim or tailored shorts, but once it starts to get a bit chillier, I'm going to make the transition to wearing them with my faithful black stretchy pants and skinny jeans!
All in all, summer is one of the most fun and daring times for fashion -- but why let the fun stop once the semester starts up?
