After a long first half of second semester, spring break is finally here. It's time to relax, forget about classes and have some fun. Whether you're heading on vacation somewhere or staying home, this is the chance to catch up on all those amazing shows you've been adding to your Netflix queue. Depending on what you are looking for, start with one of these shows!

1. "Parks and Recreation"

Genre: Comedy

Comedies are one of the best genres, and this sitcom is definitely a chart-topper. It has a stellar cast consisting of Amy Poehler, Nick Offerman, Rob Lowe, Adam Scott, Retta, Aziz Ansar, Chris Pratt and Aubrey Plaza. Set in the little town of Pawnee, Indiana, "first in friendship, fourth in obesity," every episode will have you laughing until your stomach aches!

2. "Friends"

Genre: Drama and comedy

Originally filmed during the 90s, this show has become one of the most popular in all of TV history. It is one of the most streamed shows on Netflix to this day. It has a cast of people including Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Courtney Cox, Matthew LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow. If you do end up watching Friends, you'll fall in love with places, such as Central Perk, and the friendships between the characters. This TV show truly does not age.

3. "Grey's Anatomy"

Genre: Drama

This drama is overwhelmingly popular, and it's easy to see why after binge watching all 12 seasons. The cast is extremely dynamic and changes every semester with a crop of new interns coming in. The show will take you on ups and downs and twists and turns to demonstrate the adventure of a lifetime. It's filled with scandalous relationships and great story lines and is truly a black hole that will take over your life.

4. "Criminal Minds"

Genre: Drama

If you're looking for a crime show, look no further. "Criminal Minds" is one of the most enthralling, scary and emotional shows I have ever watched. Each storyline will have different dark and twisty moments. Though it can be terrifying, the cast's relationship with each other is the savior. Actors Matthew Gray Gubler, Shemar Moore, Kristen Vangsness, Thomas Gibson, A.J. Cook and Joe Mantegna have amazing chemistry that completes the show and makes it special.

5. "Gilmore Girls"

Genre: Comedy and drama

This is a great show to watch, especially considering Netflix is doing a reboot this year! The cast includes Lauren Graham, Scott Patterson, Alexis Bledel and Melissa McCarthy. This show is an emotional rollercoaster with hysterical situations sandwiched between the hard times. The actors play a variety of characters you'll fall in love with as they explore their home in Stars Hollow, Connecticut.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
