Five Reasons Why We Should Embrace Change
wesustainearth.com

There are so many things about life that people are afraid of. Death, heartbreak, divorce, and sickness are just some of these things. All of them have one thing in common and it's the fact that they all lead to inevitable change. Change happens when something in your life takes place and leaves you with no choice but to move on and maybe live a little differently.

We are resistant to change and never realize that it's one of the only things that actually stays constant in our lives. I am a true believer of the cliche saying that "everything happens for a reason", and that reason is to change for the better. Here are five reasons why I think change is necessary to living a healthy life:

1. Change is essential for your personal growth.

Every time something big happens, good or bad, it results in you learning new things about yourself and your life. You learn important lessons, especially from changes that you didn't think would lead you to where you wanted to be.

2. Change makes you a stronger person.

The idea of your comfortable lifestyle being altered based off of a recent event can be really intimidating. Overcoming tough periods and tricky situations throughout life will make you strong enough to prepare for the next big thing that happens. This is where the idea of "change is constant" comes in. Although you might not like what is happening, you will always be stronger because of it.

3. Change helps you move on.

Change is a bit difficult and annoying, but after a while, you get used to the change happening so much that if it doesn’t come for a while, you end up creating it yourself in order to feel something actually changing. Sometimes the past can hold us back, but moving on is a slow and steady process that takes time and should never be rushed. The little changes that occur every day strengthen your progress and puts you on step further away from the bad situation that you have left behind.

4. Change leads to new opportunities and experiences.

Every change that occurs in your life is an invitation to have a new experience or take advantage of a new opportunity. It is important to consider what all the benefits of a new experience or opportunity will bring to you. If it is out of your comfort zone, do it. If it scares you, do it. If you think that it will change your life for the better, definitely do it.

5. Change is a good way to document your journey through life.

During every season of life, you are bound to experience change quite often. Whether this comes from your parents who are going through a divorce, the death of a friend, graduating college, etc., you are always going to find a way to adjust to new lifestyles. Since we can't read our future, we will never be able to tell what life is about to hand us. We can only be confident and trust in the fact that it will bring lead us to good change and lessons learned.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
