5 Reasons Why Being An Aunt Is The Best Job Ever

I love spending all of my time as an aunt, but if you ask me to change a diaper, I'm suddenly extremely busy.

5 Reasons Why Being An Aunt Is The Best Job Ever

Being an aunt isn't just a title given to you when you're sister gives birth to a beautiful little one. Being an aunt is a privilege. It's waking up to text messages asking you to come watch your niece or nephew because their parents want to go out on a date. It's chasing that little stinker around the house, wondering how they literally have the energy that one can only get from drinking ten Monster Energy drinks at once. Being an aunt might be one of the best jobs in the world, and here are five reasons why:

1. You basically are a third parent.

You're over at the house so much that you might as well live there. You care for this cute little human when everyone else is way too tired, and it's incredible to be given a job that means a tad more than just "caretaker." You're an AUNT.

2. You can teach this kid to be just like YOU.

What better way to help raise a child than to make them turn out just like yourself? When you dress them, you can make their outfits resemble your style as much as possible. It's insane.

3. You can spoil THE HECK out of them.

One of my favorite things to do is to spoil my nephew. I buy him too many clothes, I let him eat way too many cookies before dinner, and I always play any games he wants, whenever he wants. This is one of the most fun parts of holding your "Aunt" title.

4. You get to watch your siblings (and in-laws) turn into incredible parents.

Your brother that you thought was a total jerk your whole life, and now he's baby talking with your niece or nephew about how they need to eat their applesauce? Yeah. That happens. Or when your sister had said so many times how she's "never having another kid ever", and now you've got two nephews instead of one? CRAZY HOW THIS STUFF WORKS! They always love their kids, though, and you can totally see it anytime they look at them. Some of the best parents ever are your siblings when they have their own kids.

5. When they grow up, you know they'll always be able to call you for anything.

When they get older, they'll remember you spoiling them and always being around to make things better. You kissed their boo-boo's, you sang the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse song with them way too many times, and you always made sure Bubble Guppies was somewhere to be found on the TV.

Some people say that if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. I'm an aunt, and it's definitely not a job. It's an honor to see the smiling faces of my nephews, and this might be the only job I'll love more than anything.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
