Five Reasons Why Target Is Better Than Walmart

We all know it's true.

Five Reasons Why Target Is Better Than Walmart

Let’s all be honest, Target is better than Walmart. I don’t go about this statement lightly. It’s taken me 19 years to officially decide that, yes indeed, Target is the best. In case you needed some convincing, here are five reason why Target is my number one (and should be your number one) always.

1. The Workers

For some reason, the workers at Target actually want to do their job. They will literally help you find whatever you need, and they’ll seem completely happy to do it. The last time I was in Walmart, I asked a woman for lettered balloons. She looked at me like a was a fish out of water and replied with a very rude no. Turns out they did have lettered balloons—thanks, Walmart lady.

2. The Atmosphere

I am never nervous to go into Target. I don't think a creepy old guy will hit on me, and I wish I could say the same about Walmart. Nine out of 10 times I go to Walmart, a creepy old guy will try to talk to me. Is there some sort of sign in Walmarts that says, “Great space to hit on young women just trying to shop.”

3. The Quality of Products

Target clothes and shoes literally last forever. I have a swimsuit I bought from Target in the eighth grade, and guess what—it still looks awesome. This is not the case for Walmart. I have bought a shirt from Walmart that actually had a hole in it when I got first got it.

4. The Types of People

Why is it when you walk into a Walmart, 99 percent of the people you see are wearing wildly inappropriate clothing? At the Walmart in Cantonment, Florida, you couldn’t walk into the store without expecting to see at least one butt crack. Wear clothes that fit people, it's common courtesy.

5. The Amount of Time Spent in Stores

I could literally go to Target five times a day and still walk out with twenty things each time. This is both a good thing and a bad thing: good for target, bad for my wallet. I find myself going into Target for one thing and coming out with five, and they aren't even what I originally intended to purchase. However, if I go to Walmart, it is literally for a specific thing. I am not there to shop and spend time looking around.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
