Standing on the shores of Lake Michigan, Frankfort is a thriving little town in Northwest Michigan fully equipped with artisan shops, unique restaurants, and a downtown so picturesque, Pure Michigan says its pristine dunes, beaches, and spectacular sunsets awe visitors and locals alike. With year-round activities ranging from snow sports at Crystal Mountain to floating down the Platte River in the summertime, Frankfort and its surrounding area are the places to be if you’re looking to see some of what beautiful northern Michigan offers while making irreplaceable memories.

If you aren’t convinced yet, other reasons to visit Frankfort are:

1. Lake Michigan

And Crystal Lake, of course. With Lake Michigan to its west, Betsie Bay to its south and Crystal Lake to its north and east, Frankfort will fulfill all your water sport and scenic view requirements that come with vacationing. The Frankfort North Breakwater Lighthouse (below)is at the end of the northern breakwater in Lake Michigan, providing visitors with the perfect selfie background and Snapchat story filters.

2. The views

Lake Michigan, the harbor, and the small-town charm accustomed with Victorian homes and cape-cod like villas are really sites to see. Whether you’re lounging on the beach, strolling through the town, or running alongside the marina, you’ll find yourself saying, “wow” or “look at that!”

3. The food

Homemade barbecue ribs, authentic Asian cuisine and four ice cream shops, what more could one want?

4. There’s always something to do

Walkers, runners, bikers, photographers, and loungers alike all have things to do in Frankfort. You could spend the day perusing around the local shops or hiking the famous trails. Whatever activity floats your boat, Frankfort has the body of water for you.

5. The small town atmosphere

From the people to the shops, the camaraderie is contagious in this town. Before you know it, you’ll find yourself daydreaming about spending your days floating down the Platte river and your nights at the Villa bar with the inviting, friendly, and intriguing locals and fellow tourists alike. I don't know how it does it, but Frankfort has this uncanny ability to bring out the best in people. It's most likely the result of endless ice cream paired with the excuse "I'm on vacation."

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
