Choosing a place to go to college two years ago was one of the hardest decisions of my life. Everyone told me that I would never have the guts to move across the country and away from every single person I’ve ever loved. I started to believe them, but then I got denied by my first choice college. Now here I am, two years later, half way across the country, noticing how I had made the best decision of my entire life.
1. You have more freedom than ever before.
You don’t have mommy or daddy hovering over your every move anymore. You can do things whenever you please, eat whatever you want, and you don’t even have to clean if you really don’t want to.
2. There are more friends out there than high school friends.
Don’t think that just because your best friends from high school aren’t going to school with you means you won’t be friends anymore. It’s quite the opposite. But better than that, you’re about to make so many friends you’ll never be alone on Friday night again.
3. You get a better appreciation of what you have.
My mom has always been there and will always be there, the only difference is, this used to annoy me. Once I was 1250 miles away from my mom, I ended up calling her two times a day and being the annoying one. No matter what you think before you leave, YOU WILL MISS THEM.
4. There is never a dull moment.
No matter what type of person you are, there are endless things to do. You’re far away in a new place, explore.
5. Proving to everyone who told you that you couldn’t do it that you can.
Don’t lie; this will be your favorite part.
