October is possibly the most beautiful month of every year. From the beginning of the famous 'sweater weather', to the change of colors in leaves, the beginning of everything Halloween, all the way to the influx of Pumpkin Spice everything, October is filled with happiness and joy. In celebration of this glorious month, I've decided to make a list of my personal five favorite things about October.

1) Leaves Changing Color

Trees are one of my favorite things to photograph. So naturally, I love the way the green leaves can reflect off the sun and sparkle almost. However in October, the leaves begin to shift from green to a red, or sometimes orange color (due to the chlorophyll breaking down and all that science stuff). That's when I'm in my prime. Watching the leaves change is probably my favorite thing ever. So shout out to chlorophyll for breaking down. You're the true hero.

2) Haunted Hayrides, Haunted Houses, ext.

While these things typically begin in September, they're always better in October. I've only been on a haunted hayride once in my life, and it was probably one of the funniest things I've ever experienced. Haunted houses are next level though, nothing can ever top cheap scares with good friends.

3) Halloween

I couldn't have an article about October without including Halloween. There's no way that could ever be done. There's so many things to be said about Halloween. Everything from the little kids in adorable costumes, people dressing up their animals, the legendary Halloween movies (Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus, Tim Burton movies...), and even the happy faces of kids getting candy. Halloween is such a beautiful time.

4) Autumn (Cooler Temperatures)

While Autumn does actually begin in September, the real effect of it doesn't come until October. Part of Autumn (as I mentioned earlier) is the change of color in the leaves, which of course is one of my favorite things about the season. But, hands down, the best part about fall is the change of weather. Personally, I love cooler weather. The kind of weather that requires me to wear a jacket is my favorite. Any kind of cool breeze or cloudy sky makes me the happiest person alive. Cool temperatures means I'm in my prime.

5) Pumpkin Pie

Yeah, pumpkin spice things are always good. But have you ever had an amazing slice of pumpkin pie? Take that amazing slice and drown it in some whipped cream and you have yourself an amazing slice of heaven. Pumpkin pie is something we're blessed to have. Especially after an amazing dinner. I'm so thankful for pumpkin pie.

In conclusion, while the Christmas season is always named 'the most wonderful time of the year', I think we need to take a step back and realize that October is and always will be, the most wonderful time of the year.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

10 Things Only Equestrians Understand

Yes, it IS a sport. Yes, I fall all the time. No, I do not ride in jeans with a cowgirl hat on.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
