Leaving where you grew up is always a tough pill to swallow. You might not realize it in the moment but the next step in your life may be the best one you might ever take. After living in one place your whole life it seems unimaginable to move to another state. Leaving your friends, school, and childhood memories might seem scary, but starting a new beginning could be the best thing that has ever happened to you.
1. You get to make entirely new friends.
Growing up in the same town for your entire life comes with some consequences. Moving to another school with new people gives you a fresh start and lets you start over on your own terms. You can meet them on sports teams, clubs, classes, and even during passing period.
2. You can completely re-invent yourself.
Nobody knows you! Nobody knows your story or your reputation; you get to write a completely new chapter in your life, so take advantage of it!
3. You get to experience a new place that others haven't, giving you a reason to be really grateful for where you are.
Sometimes moving helps you realize how blessed you are for all that you have. Fortunately, some of us are lucky enough to live in a couple of pretty wonderful places.
4. You find out who your true friends are.
When moving to another place you get to expand your social circle by so much, you get to meet people that you never would have expected. But by some miracle, you might actually meet people that you call some of your best friends.
5. It prepares you for college.
Moving in high school gives you a little taste of what to expect when you’re about to go off to college. You already know what it’s like to have to make new friends, adjust to new surroundings, and have a fresh start. It’s almost like a little cheat-cheat.
Moving to a new place prepares you for a lot of things in life. It helps you learn about yourself, be more confident, and become worldlier. I know that the thought of moving in high school is really difficult, but try to keep a good head on your shoulders because it might be wonderful.
