5 Reasons I Envy Household Pets

I would love to live a life where my only worries were deciding when I will eat and when I will sleep.

As I have grown older, I have realized that life is full of responsibility and we don’t live the easy life that most of us wish for. With a broad imagination, I decided that I would rather live the life of a household pet. I envy the easy going life that our household pets live. Therefore, I have chosen to make a list of why I envy these beautiful creatures we call our companion.

1. No money? No job? No degree? No problem.

Pets have absolutely no responsibility. They don’t have to buy anything; we do all that for them. College loans, house loans, car loans: nonexistent in their world. They don’t have to worry about looking for a job to make money, heck they don’t have a job at all. Here we are, typical humans working our butts off to receive a degree, to get a job, which will eventually provide for our families. Pets don’t even know what money or college is. Wouldn’t life be so great if none of that stuff affected us.

2. Unlimited affection.

One thing humans long for is affection from someone else, whether from a family member or companion, we think it is a necessity in our lives. Not only do pets get affection from their owners, just about anyone who crosses their path is likely to show them some affection. People are just constantly loving on animals and talking to them like they are their best friends. Everyone deserves the kind of affection animals obtain.

3. Endless massages.

It’s a given. Who in the world doesn’t want to be given free endless massages? Our pets sit on our lap, lay on the floor, or just stand at our feet and we mindlessly pet them on cue. They get their tummy’s rubbed and their backs massaged by the hand of their lovely owners just like they want. If only we didn’t have to pay to get a massage or beg someone to do it for us.

4. “Scraps.”

Okay, maybe the food choice isn’t too appealing, but some of our pets can be pretty spoiled. Many pets get the privilege of eating “scraps,” which is surely a treat to them. If you were an animal, it wouldn’t be weird to eat what they eat anyway. They have food at the tip of their paws almost whenever they want. I would love to live a life where my only worries were deciphering when I will eat and when I will sleep.

5. Naps galore.

Like I said one of their only worries are when they will sleep. It constantly seems like as humans we can never get enough sleep. I would almost bet that most pets sleep at least 50 percent of each day. It doesn’t matter what time of day, if they aren’t eating their probably sleeping. If I am most jealous of one thing it is definitely how much they get to sleep and how relaxed they are at all times. I would kill for all the naps they get in one day.

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
