I remember the first time my mom took me to Jacksonville's historic Five Points. Filled with classic boutiques and quirky antique stores, Five Points was my new favorite place to shop. Five Points has changed a lot since my first visit, but it maintains its quaint charm.
Over the years, I've developed a few Five Points traditions and discovered new favorites. If you don't already, then I highly recommend spending a Saturday in Riverside. Here are some of my Five Points must-do's!
Shop 'til you drop.
Five Points has some of the best boutiques and unique stores I've ever been in. My favorite boutique is Edge City, located at 1017 Park Street. This store has changed its insides over the decades, but it's been around since the late '70s. My favorite thing at this store are the sunglasses!
Wolfgang is another favorite stop for me. They have some of the most unique clothing and accessories, for men and women. They are located across the street from Edge City, at 1036 Park Street.
And, if you're into records, tapes and books, then Deep Search Records is the place to be. They have classics, things you haven't heard of and everything in between. You can find them at 822 Lomax Street.
The antiques can't be beat.
If you're an old soul at heart like me, then you'll love the antique stores in Five Points. I love Fans and Stoves. The store is currently moving to a new location in Five Points, so check their Facebook for details about when they'll open again! I can spend hours in this store.
Southern Crossing, located at 2718 Park Street, is also a store you can easily spend hours in. Right down the street is a smaller store, Home Economics. If you're seeking awesome quality vintage furniture, then Home Ec is the place to go. They have gorgeous pieces.
Lunch? Look no further.
Along with great shopping, Five Points also has the best food. My favorite place right now is Hawkers, located at 1001 Park Street. They serve a variety of Asian-inspired foods. My recommendation? The fried dumplings and basil fried rice.
Another great place is Mossfire Grill. They're a short walk from the Five Points crossing light, located at 1537 Margaret Street. Everything here is so, so good, but the Adobe Chicken Sandwich is my favorite.
Along with its restaurants and shopping, Five Points is such a cool historic place. On your way, no matter where you come from, you'll be able to appreciate the gorgeous houses and buildings surrounding Park Street. The architecture is incredible and seeing it all may warrant its own Saturday.
The next time you're in need of a Saturday-out, check out Five Points. Did I mention they even have a movie theater?
