I'll admit it, I am completely obsessed with listening to music and the experience of both realizing and discussing the power that it can have over us all as individuals. Music has always been used as a coping method for myself during the periods in my life that have been particularly rough. One of the specific bands that have helped me to get through those rough times and have helped me also celebrate the brighter times in life is the pop punk band from Franklin, Tennessee, known as Paramore. Listed below is five different songs by Paramore that have personally effected my own life that I believe you all should hear and give a listen to.

Both beautifully written lyrically and honest to the core, this song is one of my all time favorites from this group. This song discusses the very feelings that many of us have when we feel as through we no longer know who we are anymore and that when we release from trying to control the situation, we will eventually find the answer that we were searching for, that we as individuals are enough.

Another favorite of mine, although slightly older. Both emotionally captivating and personal, this song has been my go-to on those particularly rough days. Simply put, this song captures the feeling of lost love and the mourning process that can often come along after the fact, no matter who you have lost. However, it also describes how even through the experience of pain, we will rise again and try once more.

As the old and familiar saying goes, ignorance truly is bliss. This song discusses the feeling of being used and mistreated by someone that you had once trusted yourself and breaking the cycle that you have been stuck in for so long, due to the ignorance coming from the other person. Simply put, this is my favorite song to listen to when I am feeling frustrated or upset.

Both the music video and the lyrics for this song borrow inspiration from the fantasy worlds that the stories of fairy tales often create within our minds. Within this song, that depicted fairy tale fantasy is just an illusion for an escape away from the reality that the world often holds for us. Don't we all want to live in a fantasy, on occasion? If so, this is the song for you!

Another old favorite of mine, but still one that I have on my playlist to this day. This was one of the very first songs that I had heard from this group and it still has an impact on me to this day. With emotional lyrics that could have multiple meanings depending on your own interpretation, this song is often still a tearjerker for me.

I hope you all enjoyed this piece and check this band out! I can promise that you will not be disappointed.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week.
