Something to please everyone's palate.

1. The Barrow House

1296 Van Houten Ave, Clifton, NJ 07013

http://www.thebarrowhouse.com/

This restaurant just had it's grand opening, and is already a huge hit. Try their local and delicious farm fare. If you’re of age, enjoy a wide variety of beer, wine, and cocktails. Maybe you’ll try this new spot before I do. (Don’t forget to make your reservation, you will need one!)

2. Veggie Heaven

631 Valley Rd, Montclair, NJ 07043

Okay, so this restaurant is ridiculous. All of their dishes are vegetarian, cholesterol, and MSG free. Dine on Chinese vegetarian fare. The menu is huge; everyone will find something they like. I think this place may trick meat eaters...bring some takeout home and try it out! The dining room is relaxed and welcoming.

Personal favorites: Veggie Wonton Soup and Veggie Lo mein!

3. Barilari’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria

755 Van Houten Ave, Clifton, NJ 07013

http://barilarisrestaurant.weebly.com/

This is one of the best places in Clifton to get Italian cuisine. Barilari’s is a customer favorite, as regulars pile in every weekend. The dining room is small and cozy, perfect for families. The servers are personable and very accommodating. Every meal has been sensational. Call for their weekend specials, there is always a hidden gem. (Don’t forget to ask for a rewards card)

Customer favorites: Penne ala Vodka, Chicken Francese, Eggplant Florentino, Extra Thin Nonna Pizza, Grilled Chicken Barilari Wrap, and Fried Calamari.

4. Turtle + the Wolf

622 Valley Rd, Upper Montclair, NJ 07043

http://turtleandthewolf.com/

If you’re looking for a quirky and fine dining date night idea, Turtle + the Wolf is your spot. The menu will change based on the best available in season ingredients, so be sure to check the website before. They take reservations up to four weeks in advance so call early to claim your table. Everything is precisely made, with eccentric ingredients. Turtle + the Wolf is for the adventurous palate.

5. Sushi Lounge

235 US-46, Totowa, NJ 07512

http://www.sushilounge.com/welcome/

This restaurant has fresh and delicious sushi. The roll selection is extensive and creative. The rest of the menu includes bold Japanese fusion creations. A DJ booth sits in the middle of the dining area, filling up the room with good vibes. Hangout at the bar for a fun night out, or sit for a romantic meal with your boo.

Personal favorites: Asian Chicken Noodle Soup (can be made without chicken), Red Hot Roll, and Asian Guacamole (when they have it).

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.
