The 5 Kinds of Christmas Trees

Twas the week before Christmas, and the time has come for trying to please as many friends and family as possible with a schedule of Christmas events. As you go to everyone's homes, you'll see an array of different trees. Listed below are the qualities of each.

1. The fake tree.

Growing with popularity over time are these convenient replacements for actually picking out a Christmas tree. Every year, the owners of these trees climb into the attic and pick the different parts of the tree out of the box and click them together, and with one swift movement, the tree is complete! The owners of these trees are satisfied with nothing to clean up, and wanting to still feel the spirit of Christmas in their home, they’ll probably buy an evergreen candle in replacement for the fresh tree smell.

2. The perfectionist tree.

This tree has every ornament color coordinated and evenly distributed, even in the back. The owner of this tree needs their house to be picture-perfect for Christmas and will probably host one or multiple events at their house throughout the season. This owner also probably didn't let anyone else help them decorate, because any helper wouldn’t put the correct ornaments on the appropriate branches.

3. The themed tree.

This Christmas tree owner is passionate about something, and this is probably their second tree. It could be a fad, television show or sports team, but this tree is decked out in spirit for something other than Christmas. When this tree is seen, you know that its owner has surpassed the level of love for something, because it is no longer appropriate to simply have a few ornaments representing their spirit. It has become an obsession.

4. The modern tree.

This tree mirrors that of the perfectionist, but is a color other than green to prove that they’re up to speed with new and changing times. The owner of this tree is most likely up to date with all of the new trends, and all of their friends know this to be true, so when they sport the Christmas tree that is in fact not green at all, no one is surprised.

5. The traditional tree.

This tree definitely does not happen in one swift motion. It is picked out in a group effort of carefully examining every texture and branch, if not chopped down personally by its owner. When it is strapped to the roof of the car, its owners probably take part in the post-tree tradition of eating at the same restaurant or buying a new ornament. The tree leaves a trail of needles after being trudged into the house and screwed into the stand, and the countless amount of boxes of ornaments have been brought out to be arranged in a seemingly random, but purposeful order. With every ornament brought out comes the story of it, and decorating this tree is a time of never ending conversation.

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
