There are some days when you just want to relax and listen to music. This may even occur when going to a concert. It is sometimes nice to just kick back on the lawn with some friends and take it easy at a concert. Here is a list of items you may want to bring to make your lawn experience more enjoyable.
1. Blanket
A nice, large sturdy blanket is something that will help keep the grass from itching your legs. Don't bring your favorite soft blanket because it will get a little dirty. There are some venues that sell them for $20 which you can use at other concerts.
2. Food
Food at concessions tend to be on the more expensive side, but not nearly as much as the movies. It is a pain to stand in a long line between sets, or a short one and miss a song. Many outdoor venues allow a small cooler with no wheels. You can store some fruit, sandwiches, and snacks to eat through the night.
3. Money
This seems like a give in, but many forget that bands sell merchandise that is only available on tour. You can get a sweet t-shirt for around $15 to $30. If I want to get something small, buttons, posters, and stickers are cheep ways to commemorate a concert.
4. Tarp
If it had been raining recently, the grass is most likely still wet. Bringing just a blanket will not be sufficient to keep you dry. Putting down a trap before a blanket keeps everything from getting wet.
5. Lawn Chair
Sometimes sitting on the ground can make your body achy. Lawn chairs are a great way to avoid this. They may be a little hassle to bring in, but are worth it. Just watch out for blanket users when setting up your chairs so you don't block their view!
Extra Tip!
Make sure you look at what is and is not allowed in a venue. Their rules may vary, and it would be really unfortunate to walk all the way to your car, put something away, and get back in line. If you arrive right when the concert starts, it will be hard to find an good lawn patch. It may seem overrated, but going a little early is key!
