5 Fall Date Ideas That Will Make You Fall In Love

Single summer is over and you are ready for warm drinks, warm sweaters and a warm hand to hold. Whether you have a cold weather cuddle buddy yet or not, here is a small list of some of the classic romantic ways to snuggle up and enjoy the fall season in the coming weeks.

1. The classic haunted house. Recently, there was a picture floating around the internet of the United States and on each state was the number of Haunted Houses located there. Ohio had the most with over 100 haunted houses available in the state. Living in one of the spookiest states, it's almost a civil duty to go to at least one haunted house a year. So grab your significant other, head to one and hold on tight while one of you screams like an opera singer.

2. Apple picking. Orchards are beautiful this time of year especially. Take your date to a field of crisp apple trees and help bring in the harvest. You can bake apple pie together, or make your own cider after if the date goes well.

3. Pumpkin carving. Considered a childish past time, one of the staples of the beginning of fall is the ceremonious carving of pumpkins. Slip into some fond nostalgia and grab a few small pumpkins. You two can have a contest to see who can carve the better pumpkin. Maybe even try to carve each other's faces into the jack-o-lanterns. Then, after you're finished, you can bake the seeds for a delicious snack.

4. Walk through the changing woods. The trees are stunning this time of year. In the business of our lives, we forget to appreciate the change from lively green to the fieriest oranges, yellows and reds. Enjoy the fall artwork by walking hand in hand down one of the dozen towpaths and trails in this area. If you're really adventurous, make it a weekend long camping trip in a more remote place.

5. Halloween movie marathon. Again, summer is over. Which means sometimes the weather isn't nice enough to go on a golden autumn adventure. But that doesn't mean the fun has to stop there. The season of fall grants us the gift of Halloween, and with that, Halloween movies. The Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family, and so many others that bring with them the spookiness of the season. If the weather is dreary or you're just more of a homebody, grab a few flicks and some Halloween candy and get in the spirit of spooky with your boo.

The possibilities are endless for fall dates. In a state like Ohio, we are part of a natural masterpiece. So don't let the chilly weather stop you from going out there and "falling" in love!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
