So its that time of a year again, when the semester has gotten the best of you, and you really just don't know if you are going to make it to the end. Whether its the looming stress from finals, school, work or the anxiety of the upcoming holiday season. We all are feeling pretty beaten down, and just plain ready to give up. But guess what, there is help out there! Some geniuses in the tech world have yet again created apps to help you in small, but oh so significant ways to get you through the day. So I've compiled a list of five apps that you may not know, that will help you continue to get through the day, and eventually the semester (lets hope).
1) Kiwake Alarm Clock
It all starts with the morning, and if you don't "do" mornings, then you will love this app. I know its difficult to get out of bed and just start the day ahead, thats why there is Kiwake. It keeps you from hitting snooze on your alarm. This app forces you to get out of bed and wakes your brain up with a variety of physical tasks, brain games, and morning goal setting. Its really nothing complex, but it wakes your brain up just like coffee.
2) Forest: Stay focused, be present
If you ever find yourself getting distracted by your phone when you are trying to get work done, and the usual "do not disturb" mode, or airplane mode, just don't cut it (I mean who are you kidding, I know I can just turn that off). Then you should consider this app! Its a fun and creative way to keep yourself on task. Every time you are working on a project or a major task, you plant a tree. The tree continues to grow for every 30 minutes, while you are in the app. However, the second you exit that app, the tree dies. One tree at a time you can grow a forest. I know it sounds weird, but it really works. If you are like me, seeing that little tree die really gets to you.
3) Calm
If you find yourself completely getting overwhelmed and just need a break, and you only have a few minutes, this app will relax you through meditation. There are a variety of meditation options to fit your schedule and lifestyle, but it also includes soothing sounds to help you fall asleep. Keeping your mind at peace can drastically help your productivity, and help you get through the rest of your day.
4) Google Calendar
Okay, so I am sure you know this one, but its seriously the best way to stay organized and accomplish all you need to in the day. Putting your schedule, all your daily tasks, and goals for the day/week in google calendar keeps you on top of it. And added bonus it reminds you, just in case you forget you had something to do! It also gives you the option to invite other people on google calendar to the event, as well as share your calendar with friends. So if you ever find yourself trying to coordinate schedules with a friend, it makes things way easier. If you don't already organize your day and life through this app, I highly recommend you start now.
5) Five Minute Journal
This one may seem a little strange, but journaling can improve your mindset, happiness and keep you motivated. This app makes it easy to journal fast and get your ideas down through a variety of different features. It does take out the fun of pen and paper, but if you don't have time to do that, this is the next best option. You can add lists, photos and it will send you daily quotes, challenges, reminders as well. Its a fun and easy way to look back at all your memories, and keep everything in your life in perspective. It helps you to step back, reflect and appreciate all the good things you got going on. That alone can help you to get through the day.
