If you haven't been following my articles for the past few months you would know, I'm currently a college student who's broke but not broke.... most of my money from work goes to tuition but that's beside the point. In this article, you'll find 5 cute ideas to give to your valentine that won't break the bank! Happy Valentine's day to you all, regardless of your status.

1. Cute D.I.Y gifts!

This is always a great option because it's something personal and you didn't buy it straight from the store.... well maybe the materials but not the finished product. It's something that person - whether it is a significant other, friend, family member, or whatever. They'll appreciate it for sure. You can check out this website for some ideas!

2. Reservations.

Granted some restaurants can be expensive and super busy for Valentine Day but some places like the Waffle House are holding reservations... I know what you're thinking "The Waffle House?" but it's literally the same thing if you went to a highly expensive restaurant. It still shows you care enough to bring them out to dinner, no matter what ... you're just balling on a budget... is that what the kids say nowadays? Also, if your college has a restaurant or dining hall on campus and they send out an announcement saying they are holding reservations as well, that works as well. I know at Sacred Heart, Linda's Hearth Room is having Valentine's Day dinner there so I wouldn't miss out on that opportunity if you're looking to go out to dinner with someone close to you that day.

3. Amazon or any other website.

Many websites like Target and Amazon have gifts that are super cheap and it's still something that doesn't look cheap. I had to research for this article and a lot of stuff was high in quality but super cheap! Certain websites have sections purposely for certain holidays so if you have a chance check it out for sure.

4. Writing.

I know most people would think this is super cringe-worthy but you can always pair a nicely written poem, story, or letter with a nice display of candy (2 bags of candy for $7 is happening at Target right now!) but not only can they eat the candy but they can re-read it or look at that writing whenever they want. It'll not only be personal but it'll mean a lot to that person.

5. FLOWERS!!!

If you know the person you're looking to spend time with on this overly hyped holiday loves flowers, then bring yourself down to the nearest grocery store, pharmacy or wherever and pick up a thing of flowers. A good place for cheap flowers is a gas station or a 7/11 ... they might not be the greatest quality though so beware.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

It's not all morning coffees and singing along to the radio.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.
