Geek and Sundry

According to the Oxford Dictionary, binge-watching is when you watch multiple episodes of a tv series in rapid succession, typically by means of DVDs or digital streaming. Now, as both a college student and a homebody, binge-watching is something I do quite regularly and find a lot of comfort in doing. In order for binge-watching to be successful, though, you need a tv show that hooks you from the beginning and keeps your attention the whole way through. I completely understand that sometimes finding that perfect show can be difficult, so I am going to share some of the best shows I have found to binge watch.

1) Dawson's Creek

This show is for any teenager or young adult out there. It covers so many different topics by following 4-6 main characters from high school to adulthood. The characters all have different personalities so it is easy for so many different people to relate to it in one way or another.

2) White Collar

First of all, Matt Bomer is one of the main characters in this show. Need I say more? But anyways, if you want a crime show that is not so gory and more about "high end" crime then this is the show for you. There is even some romance and humor in there.

3) How I Met Your Mother

This show is one of my absolute favorite shows and I do not think I will ever not want to watch it. It has drama, sadness, and humor. Full of so many useful lessons and hilarious one-liners, you will often find yourself quoting and referencing it. What could make a show any better?

4) Grey's Anatomy

If there is one show I honestly do not know if I could live without it, this would be it. I guarantee after the first episode you will be hooked. Just be prepared because this show will break your heart numerous times, but do not fret because you'll just keep coming back.

5) One Tree Hill

I have watched this series 3 times and will probably watch it at least another 3 times and still smile and cry in the exact same places every single time. It is a relatable show that is full of all sorts of life lessons.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
