Music and road trips -two of my favorite things- go hand-in-hand; not only does music just make road trips much more enjoyable, but they allow you to sing along with your friends, thus pumping you up for the great adventure ahead of you.

I am very picky when it comes to what I add to my playlist, so I make sure I listen to the song multiple times just to ensure that it's worthy of accompanying me on my car rides. Due to this routine, I am confident when I say that the five songs listed below are not only amazing songs, but they are perfect for long car rides with great company.

"Juice" by Lizzo

With lyrics like "No, I'm not a snack at all, look, baby, I'm the whole damn meal" and "Mirror, mirror on the wall
Don't say it, 'cause I know I'm cute," this song will certainly get you dancing and singing along. Lizzo is all about girl power and confidence, so if you're driving with a group of your girlfriends, this song will bring the energy up and the vibes flowing.

"3 Nights" by Dominic Fike

If you don't already know Dominic Fike, then I promise you that within the next couple of months, you will not be able to get his songs out of your head. Within the first notes of Fike's most well-known tune "3 Nights," a smile literally spreads across my face every single time. Something about Fike's smooth voice, the upbeat tune, and the fun lyrics makes me want to just go on an adventure with my friends and have the best time of my life, thus making it a perfect song to jam to before an event or outing.

"Driving To Hawaii" by Summer Salt

Summer Salt's "Driving To Hawaii" has a way of instantly making me mellow, not only because of the retro-like tune but the sound of crashing, ocean waves can be heard at the beginning of the song. The lyrics depict a beautiful love story with the backdrop of Hawaii where the lead singer, Matthew Terry, sings of warm weather, surfing, and the overall joyfulness of traveling somewhere tropical with good company. This song is perfect for when you're driving to the beach and need an extra element in enjoying nature and it's calming vibes.

"Weekend" by Mac Miller

"Weekend" by Mac Miller was my go-to song to listen to before a party because the lyrics literally depict going out with your friends solely in search of happiness, fun times, and risky behavior. I don't know what it is about this song, but when my friends and I hear it, everything that's stressing us out disappears and the only thing that matters at that moment is having a good time. This song is perfect to blast in an Uber so you can get in the mood for a fun night full of memories and good company.

"Wait A Minute!" by Willow Smith

"Wait A Minute!" is the perfect song to listen to when you need to remind yourself to be in the moment rather than worrying about the future. With lyrics like "But I'm here right now, right now just sitting in a cloud, oh wow, I'm here right now, right now with you" and "some things don't work, some things are bound to be," I'm reminded to just let things be and to enjoy life as much as I can. Going on road trips with your friends is something you should never take for granted, so this song is a reminder to enjoy the moment as it's happening instead of things that you have no control over.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
