Cardio, Weight-lifting, Yoga, Running, Pilates, Crossfit...you name it. There is so many ways to stay active, and it should all be fun. Working out does not have to be pretty, it won’t look pretty at all because it’s all about you pushing your body to the limit. The human body is so much more than a six pack, perfect butt, or number on a scale or pair of skinny jeans. So why limit your reasons for working out to that?
Working out so you can feel better, get stronger, live longer, sleep better, be happier, and loving your body is reason enough.
Deciding to work out is probably one of the most difficult life decisions to make because it is something new to our bodies and it is not going to be very fun when you lose your breath and don’t see any results the first time around.
Don’t start big because then that gets you super discouraged in the end. Start off simple, get on a treadmill or go outside and take a walk for an hour. Put on your headphones and jam to music that keeps you pumping and energized through the whole exercise.
There are several ways to make working out fun.
- Workout buddy. No one is an expert at working out, and no one knows everything either, bring a friend to the gym, or have someone to run with in the mornings. Motivating each other is the only way to keep on going.
- Create a workout playlist. Sometimes the old jams are the ones that can keep you moving longer.
- Join a fitness class. Or many! Not everything is for everyone, if you prefer yoga than cycling then do yoga.
- Netflix and Treadmill? You don’t always have to sit on the couch to watch your favorite tv shows. It actually helps to watch your shows while on the treadmill because then you are not thinking about the fact that you are actually working out.
Trust me it’s the best thing, so go out there and get strong.
There’s no disappointment to working out, there's no negative outcome to it either.
Slow progress is still progress.
