The past few years, young women's Instagram feeds have been flooded with images of these "perfect" women. Long hair, huge lips, ribs showing. Every body is different and everybody is beautiful but so many women feel pressured by these beauty standards.
Lip injections are all the rage now and you can't log onto social media without seeing a Sugar Bear Hair Promotion. These influencers are true to their title, they influence young girls to change their appearance, often using unhealthy methods.
However, a new wave of influencers have sprung up on Instagram. Two words: Fitness Bloggers. These men and women are taking to the photo/video sharing app to promote weight lifting, cardio, and clean diets.
Whitney Simmons is one of the most popular of these bloggers. She shares her daily workout routines with her followers in a video format. She posts videos focusing on specific muscle groups each day (leg day, abs, etc).
Simmons and other fitness bloggers take the idea of the perfect body to a new and healthy level. They push planned workouts and healthy eating instead of crash diets and miracle teas.
My explore page has been filled with these strong young women and their gym routines. From cable kicks to HITT cardio I've learned so many fun workouts from their accounts. Some of my favorites include Linn Jacobsson, Hanna Öberg, and Sarah Stevenson (Sarah's Day on social media).
Simmons consistently encourages body positivity, pointing out ot her followers that it has taken years to achieve the level of fitness that she's at. Her message is about having a healthy body as opposed to simply having a "hot" body.
Everyone has a different body. Some people are skinny, some people have huge butts, some people have huge lips. These fitness bloggers have the power in their hands to teach young women and men the importance of being the HEALTHIEST version of yourself.
Your body will change through out your life depending on the lifestyle you choose. It's important to find eating habits and work out routines that work for you. Fitness bloggers show varieties of lifestyle choices that are easily adaptable and can help you discover your full potential.
