They say you should exercise 30 minutes a day. They also say you should eat healthily. But, "they" is not a broke college student trying to get by on free food and having to walk everywhere. As my first year at college comes to a close, I would like to tell "they" what my diet and fitness experience was like fall semester versus spring semester.
Gym:
Fall: I’ve got to check out the gym! How do I use the equipment?
Spring: Where is the gym? How do I get in?
Waking up to work out:
Fall: I can wake up at 6 a.m. and hit the gym before class!
Spring: *Rolls out of bed five minutes before class.*
Running:
Fall: Finally, I can get back to running a ten-minute mile!
Spring: *Runs half a mile, falls on the grass and sees life flash before eyes.*
Lifting:
Fall: I can only press 50, but I’m getting there. No pain no gain!
Spring: I can lift 12-packs of Mountain Dew upstairs in one trip.
Healthy balance:
Fall: I can eat a salad every day for lunch. A small snack won’t hurt, right?
Spring: I can probably eat three family-sized bags of Doritos in one sitting. You know what, I know I can!
Finals week:
Fall: *Nibbles on two Fiber One bars to get through the night.*
Spring: *Stress eats three pounds of zebra cakes and drinks a two-liter bottle of Pepsi.*
If you're feeling like your eating habits are unhealthy, don't worry. You can hit the gym...next semester.
