6 Ways A Fitbit Will Change Your Life

A few weeks ago, I didn't wear a watch every day. I was blissfully unaware of how much I actually sat still at work, and I had no idea that on average, 11 minutes of my sleep every night is spent tossing and turning. I didn't realize that walking 10,000 steps in a day actually takes some effort, and I wasn't filling my water bottle up enough. Then, I decided to get a Fitbit. Now, I know all of these things and am even motivated to change my habits for the better. I feel weird when I don't have that teal band on my wrist waiting to tell me how much I have moved. I even get annoyed when I have to take it off to charge it. Every time I talk to my friends about how much I love my Fitbit and how I think they could benefit from one, they call me "one of those people." Here are 6 reasons why you should buy a Fitbit and be one of those people, too.

1. All of the motivation.

Nothing motivates you to move more like realizing you only take 2,000 steps in a day. Seriously, facing health stats head on will make you want to finally reach your fitness goals. Plus, when you do hit 10,000 steps, your Fitbit gives you medals and lights up with fireworks.

2.Tracking your sleep is easy.

Sleep is way more important to your health than most people realize. When you don't get enough sleep, your body can't fully restore itself. If you're going to bed tired and waking up tired, knowing how many times you wake up every night and how long you're actually asleep can help you make adjustments to better your health.

3. The app lets you track food and waterintake.

One of my favorite things about the Fitbit app is that I can log the food I eat and the water I drink everyday. Everything I've tried to log on the app has had precise nutrition facts, making my calorie counts for the day more accurate than ever. The water icon "fills" as you log glasses or bottles of water, making it easy to see how close you are to your goals.

4. You can set realistic goals.

Because a Fitbit is more than a simple pedometer, it is easy to set realistic goals. It's easy to look at a number on a scale and get caught up in losing 50 pounds, but that can be hard to do, especially when you're only gauging your success on weight loss. When you look at all of your Fitbit stats, you can make more realistic health goals, like drinking more water, keeping your heart rate at its peak while you exercise, or getting more restful sleep. All of these things will contribute to your health goals, and are more realistic goals to meet. When you accomplish these goals, you'll feel like this guy for sure.

5. There are multiple Fitbit options for every activity level.

I have the Fitbit Charge HR in my favorite color, teal, and I love it because it does way more than track my steps. If you want a small band, Fitbit makes a simple, sleek Fitbit Alta. If you're a runner, the Fitbit Blaze is for you. If you want a big screen on your wrist, check out the Fitbit Surge. Seriously, there are a ton of options. Anyone can find one that fits your life, but it will probably be hard to choose!

6. You're not wasting your money.

I tried using the pedometer on my phone for a while, and absolutely hated it, because I would never remember to pick up my phone when I was walking from room to room. I wanted a Fitbit to fix that problem, and what I got was so much more. Your Fitbit isn't an overpriced pedometer. It will tell you all about your health, will motivate you to meet goals, and will always be convenient.

Reaching a goal always starts with small steps, and nothing will motivate you like a Fitbit!

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
