Fit Is the New Skinny | The Odyssey Online

Celebs looking skinnier than ever puts so much pressure on girls to want to look that way, too. Whatever is on television is what is right - or so we think. Is the best way to look really to look bony, though? Although being skinny may be popularized as being the best, it can be detrimental to your health if you are not eating correctly or are skipping meals. Maybe you are just naturally skinny, but if not, you need to know that you don’t have to be stick-thin to be attractive.

Cardio is annoying. CARDIO IS SO ANNOYING. It’s stupid, you get sick of your music and did I mention that it is annoying? Doing something so monotonous clearly gets old, and you probably don’t want to do it every day. Also, your total calories burned stops when you stop. When you lift weights, your calorie-burning continues for hours after. Understandably, girls do no want to bulk. YOU WON’T. As long as you’re not taking protein and eating absurd amounts of meat, you will not gain so much muscle that you look like a man.

Have you ever seen Total Divas? Because anyone who has would probably say they would die for any of their bodies. And guess what? They don’t starve themselves at all. You can watch it first hand - they train with weights. Do you want a six-pack? Then eat. Honestly, if you lift instead of doing cardio, it's not counter-productive, because you’re usually not as starving as you would be from doing cardio...which would have caused you to be more hungry, and consume the calories that you just burned right back again.

Eat clean. You can eat all you want, but maximum results will not show unless you eat clean. Try to eat only foods with an expiration date within 2-3 weeks of purchase at the latest. Anything that comes from the ground is good - try organic if possible. The farmer’s market downtown is the perfect place to grab some fruits and veggies for the week. How could you not stop there when walking by? It’s so cute!

Would you rather have flabby arms the first time you wear a tank for the season? Or toned and defined arms and shoulders? No, not like a body builder, don't worry. Instead of skipping breakfast, try eating more breakfast and less dinner. You will have more energy not only for your workout, but also for your day in general. It is understandable that this habit is extremely hard to break, but if you can stick to eating more for breakfast and consistently eating less for dinner - along with cutting out sugars - you should see results, even without working out.

Being toned and having muscle is cool, because it is clear that you care about your image enough to feed yourself clean food and work hard, too. Being toned and fit is in. Being stick-thin is out. As hard as you might think it is, just try it!

female tv characters
We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:

If you are like me, you have an interesting personality. Basically, you love to be sassy and snarky, gossip, and act like a total bitch (not really), but deep down, you are actually a very genuinely nice person. The idea of actually hurting someone truly makes you feel bad, and you probably have never actually hurt someone’s feelings because your kindness always shines through, even if you do not want it to. Not sure exactly what I would call this type of personality, but if you identify with it, here are some feelings you can undoubtedly relate to.
