People always warn you about the dreaded “Freshman 15” or the even more extreme “sorority 40” when you voyage off to college. Being off on your own for the first time means eating whatever you want and most likely not cooking or having sufficient funds to buy healthy meals and snacks. When ramen and cheap vodka are your two main food groups you are bound to gain at least a little weight even if you are hitting it hard at the rec center. Most college campuses have pretty amazing rec centers that students can use without having to worry about a gym membership so it is pretty easy for college students to stay fit if they are motivated to do so. Since most of us have the laziness level of a sloth sometimes we need to be reminded how to stay fit and healthy.

Drink water, drink water, drink water

Drinking water is always a good idea. It keeps you hydrated, is good for your skin, and filters out the toxins in your body. Drinking things other than water like your favorite order at Starbucks, or an energy drink, have extra calories and negative effects that water does not!

Make a workout schedule

You do not have to have the week broken up into “leg days” or “cardio” but it is always good to pick a time you are free to go every week and stick to it. Simply not having class does not motivate most of us to go to the gym but if you go every Saturday and every Tuesday then you will most likely stick to that out of habit.

Don’t “diet” for Cabo

No matter where you are going for spring break people always go on crazy diets and hit the rec center extra hard before they leave. Often this has no positive effects in the long run since your habits will not really change. If you always have a healthy lifestyle in place you will not have to do extra work to look fleek in your bathing suit. Not eating enough food stops your workouts from being productive and you will most likely end up in Cabo malnourished and in dire need of some tacos.

Get a workout buddy

When you have someone to hold you accountable you will try your hardest to go to the gym so you don’t leave your buddy hanging. You also make sure that you both do your workout for long enough and help each other with abs or whatever group exercises you like to do.

Wear your Fit Bit out

Whether you are hitting up the frats or the bars your Fit Bit is always a great accessory.! Gotta get those steps in am I right? It will motivate you to keep moving and mingle with different people than you might have before. This will also motivate you to wear more comfortable and practical shoes out and that is an all pros no cons situation for everyone involved.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
