Getting fit and working out regularly is a common goal during the summer. You may overhear conversations about goals to do more yoga, run more in the morning or walk to places instead of driving or taking public transport. Like most people, I make these plans for myself over most long breaks or holidays but I typically don't stick to them. It's either out of pure laziness or lack of motivation to work out and generally feel better- both physically and emotionally.
This summer I plan to change that mentality.
I am in no way shape or form promoting the need to workout every day on to everybody's lifestyle. I do believe in a healthy one that promotes happiness and well-being. I have become more aware of my eating choices: how much I eat and what I am eating. I have started to log my eating using the MyFitnessPal app and monitoring my exercise as well to determine calories being burned.
Part of the reason I have been able to motivate myself this summer is because I have decided to do this for me and only me.
The idea of looking and feeling better with someone else is mind is a ridiculous and destructive idea. This kind of thinking keeps others in mind while not being aware of what you truly want and what will make you feel happy.
Exercising and being a healthier version of yourself for your own benefit and gain is a great exercise in self-love and appreciation.
So if you are going to exercise this summer, do it for yourself and no one else.
