So A Term is almost over, and we've officially settled in as freshmen. We've had to let go of our senioritis and move on to a college world and find our places. Here are the top 10 experiences you'll have your first A Term of college.

1. Misplacing your ID.

It really sucks when you forget your ID in your room and your door shuts right before you can slip inside to retrieve it.This card is your ticket into the building. It holds your meal swipes and personal information. If you don't have your card, you may get locked out of your hall, your room, or the dining hall. Incase you forget your ID, you can always make the guilt-ridden voyage to the police department.

2. When you're at a new school, you may find yourself eating alone.

I usually try to eat with roommates, floormates, or classmates. It may be awkward eating without your friends, but it's a great way to make new friends.

3. Realizing that you need to have some kind of planner.

There are so many events on campus in addition to your classes and homework assignments. Each class requires you to access 2 different websites. With so many events happening at once, it's incredibly easy to forget when something is happening.

4. Emails.

You will receive an average of fifteen emails per day and sometimes even more. Email is the new Facebook, and you have to check it at least twice a day to avoid falling behind.

5.Trying to be involved in everything or deciding what to be involved with.

The Student Activity fair is one of the most exciting events on campus. You discover that there are clubs or teams for activities you enjoy doing, but you don't know how many you can actually commit to. The solution? You sign up for everything or for way more events than you can handle. You'll eventually figure out what you're comfortable with and what meshes with your schedule.

6. Receiving extra help.

You may not have asked for help with schoolwork in highschool, but it's a big necessity in college. When you have a day to learn a whole unit, attend other classes and activities, and complete homework before 9, it's ok to ask for help. You don't realize how much time you waste when you try to derive equations and spend hours trying to figure it out for yourself.

7.The independence.

It's up to you when it's time to eat or do homework. You have a variable set of tasks to finish while allotting time to relax and have fun. Freedom is amazing and figuring out what you want to put time into is an amazing experience.

8. You contemplate your major.

There will always be those classes where you feel your low grade reflects your future success in that work field. It's difficult to stop wondering if you're even meant to spend your life in that career field. A term has that power to make you doubt yourself and your abilities, and it's important to never let one of your first classes at your school make you feel incompetent and defeated. Keep your head up, and your hard work will help you receive the education you need to excel in that field.

9.Those deadlines and that workload.

The homework for 7 week classes can be a bit intense. I guess it's something you have to get used to over time. Some of those online assignments can be confusing. Sometimes there may even be glitches in the program.

10. #Friendships.

Although it's only A term, you will already form some strong bonds with people. You'll meet so many sweet and caring people who will help you with any of your problems. You might spend weekends studying with your floormates in the halls and creating note sheets. You will have a blast laughing with people from your hall and watching musicals or ridiculous movies such as Airplanes. College is an exciting experience, and it's even more fun when you spend it with the right people.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
