Hey everybody! It's Carrington coming back at you with another First-Year Friday interview! Our special guest for this week is Jordan Camacho, soccer player and first-year student at Richard Bland College! Hear about his Statesman experience below:

"Where are you from, and what was the previous school you went to?"

Jordan: I am from London, UK, and I went to a high school called Salvatorian College.

"What brought you here to RBC?"

Jordan: I've always been interested in soccer, so the coach (Richard Bland's soccer coach) got in contact with me, and he asked me to come and play for the team, so I came here to play for the team.

"What is the most important academic goal that you have set for yourself in furthering your education?"

Jordan: I want to get a Master's in Business and achieve a 3.0 GPA or higher.

"What is a personal goal that you have set for yourself while experiencing college life?"

Jordan: As I'm here for soccer, my goal is that I want to win Nationals. I also want to make it into a Division I College/University and try and make it pro.

"If you were NOT playing soccer, what club or sport would you be involved in?"

Jordan: I would probably be involved in basketball, tennis, swimming, or track...I've played a lot of sports throughout my life and I've been good at most of them, so either path is alright.

"Fill in the blank: ___________ is the most important moral/value to me."

Jordan: I think family because family is the most important. Family is always going to be there for you. Your family is you and family is the name that you have to make for your family.

"What do you want to do when you grow older?"

Jordan: I want to be an entrepreneur, so I have a few business ideas that I want to pursue. I also want to be a pro athlete for whatever sport comes my way. When I get to my point of success, I would also like to create a new charity that will help build schools across the world for less economically-developed countries. The way most companies work is that majority of the money that they get from the public don't actually go towards what they're fighting for, and so a lot of people pay themselves off. I actually want to go to those countries and see myself invested and see it for myself.

"BONUS QUESTION: Who is the best interviewer (and person) ever?"

Jordan: It would have to be...Carrington from Richard Bland College! (Me: *does a happy dance*)

...and THIS, ladies & gentlemen, has been another installment of First-Year Fridays! Stay tuned on Instagram & Twitter at @pookiehotsauce for more on First-Year Fridays! Peace out!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
