College is finally here and I can already feel the future stress. There is like an apprehensive feel in the air and the tension is palpable but there is equal parts excitement too. College is finally here! Even if you are a senior, junior or sophomore, restarting college can be pretty stressful and for the freshman out there, don't stress too much (let midterms week come, oh boy) and just enjoy this new chapter of your life.
1. Not knowing anyone in your class is okay
GiphyNot knowing anyone in your class is always fun because now you can make new friends! Just remember to be approachable and start a conversation. There are other people who are in need of a friend in that class too! Making new friends is always an exciting (albeit stressful) experience.
2. Do not buy your textbooks before class
GiphyYes, the prices of textbooks are ridiculous and yes, there is nothing we can do (even crying at the professors doesn't work). But you might not even need the textbook for the class so don't go buying that $200 book if you won't use it.
3. check your classes out before you have them
GiphyI know freshman especially do this, mostly because they are terrified to get lost but this applies to the ones coming back to college too. The campus is huge and you may have classes in buildings you have not been in before. It doesn't hurt to be prepared!
4. I know you are overwhelmed but don't forget self-care
GiphyThe first few weeks of college is said to be more chill than when you get into the grove of it but the stress to make connections, friends, and figure out if you want to do these classes is huge so don't forget to eat, sleep, hydrate, and call your parents often. It is going to get worse (or better, depends on the way you see it) from here and perseverance is the way to go.
And that's it, folks.
Have a great beginning of your academic years (haha, be ready for my optimistic view of college to do a 180 in like five days).
