Let me be the first to say, welcome to college. You may not realize it yet, but these next four years will be the best of your life. This is the place where you will meet lifelong friends, work towards your life goals, and learn just who you are as an individual. But, before we get to the diploma and world changing impact, you have to get started. The first week of college is many things. Scary. Exciting. One you'll never forget. But don't just take my word for it, I think the cast of Friends explains the first week of freshman year much better.
Move in day is a huge workout!
Only the schools that don't have elevators in the dorms will truly understand just how much of an ordeal this process is.
Once unpacked, it's time to make some friends.
This is easier said than done. You'll say hi to a lot of people before you finally meet your new friend group.
Of course no orientation would be complete without too many icebreakers.
You've been warned, prepare for days of silly get-to-know-you games as the school attempts to make your friends for you.
There are perks, you can eat whatever you want!
While you no longer have your mother yelling at you that you've eaten enough, you do have to take some responsibility if you want to avoid the freshman fifteen.
But the glory of 'adulting' quickly fades.
When laundry day comes around, you may just find yourself missing home.
Homesickness may begin to set in.
Resist the urge to call your mom every ten minutes. You will get used to being away from home, give it time!
Just when hope seems lost, you meet your best friend.
Speaking from personal experience, best friends have a way of appearing when you need them most.
You realize you can do this, and it will be a great adventure.
This is the first week of a long and amazing journey. Enjoy it!
