First Week Of College Explained By Harry Potter

As a senior, looking back on my freshman year is very nostalgic. One of the most eventful memories was the first week of college. It was thrilling. There were new people and I was living in a completely different city, and ultimately it was an exciting adventure. However, it was also terrifying as I was facing the unknown and leaving my home behind. So whether you are excited or terrified, here is what you can expect during your first week of college, as explained best by Harry Potter.

1. Move-In Day

As a new freshman, move-in day is always extremely exciting! There are so many diverse people, a new bed, and even a unique roommate. Spend time organizing your room and decorating your walls because your room is your new home for the next year. Don't overload yourself with trunks and excessive bird cages, take your time and enjoy the process of moving into this new chapter of your life.

2. First Impressions

Make the most of your first impressions. Even with an awkward silence looming in the air, simply smile and pull a Hermione. Making friends is easier than you think.

3. First Day Of Class

Don't worry if the campus seems like an endless maze, just find a map, or ask a friendly face for directions to your new classes.

4. However, Explore Your Campus

Getting lost is the fun part. You never know what you will find around campus. There are always intriguing things to be discovered, whether a quiet corner nook in the library, or an exciting exercise class in the gym.

5. Dorms

Your new dorm is thrilling because you finally have a place to call your own! Attending the floor socials will be important to learn the names of your fellow neighbors and to make the dorms feel more comfortable. Try not to hide away in your room because meeting new people is an important aspect in college.

6. Upperclassmen

Don't worry about the upperclassmen; they were once freshman too. If possible, meet the upperclassmen in your major because they are the best resource for professor advice and will even tell you the best electives to take.

7. Cafeteria

With every school comes a cafeteria full of new food. Feel free to try a variety of cuisine, and mark down which night of the week has that amazing mac and cheese. However, unlike Ron, pace yourself because there is plenty of time to try the veggie pizza and the stir-fry that you have been eyeing.

8. Roommate

By night five, you will have the realization that your roommate is awesome and strange. There are definitely some quirks your roommate has that may seem bizarre to you, but learn to love them because you will also notice how secretly amazing your roommate is.

9. Club Day

Club day is always an exciting day around campus. The buzz of the diverse college community joining together is always fun! There will be classic groups like Greek life and student council, and also unique clubs like fish tank club or greenhouse club attending the event. Talk to any that interest you. It's always a good idea to become involved and meet new people that possibly share your same interest in plant life!

10. End Of The Week

But by the end of your crazy, exciting first week, you will know you chose the right place.
