Highlights From The First Week Of 2017

After only five days of 2017, the celebrity and pop culture world are off to a good start. Actually, let's say phenomenal! I'm not sure if these events are an indication of the forthcoming year, but we could be off to a shaky start. Let me, a pop culture enthusiast, break down some of the most crucial happenings of the first week of January:

1. Kim K. posts her first photo in 2 months

That's right, Kim Kardashian took a bit of a social media hiatus after her Paris robbery! But, don't worry, she posted on Snapchat and Instagram during her New Year's celebrations and reached out to media outlets to quell divorce rumors. All in all, Kim is back to being the selfie queen and KIMYE is not going anywhere anytime soon.

2. Kendall Jenner might be rekindling a previous relationship

Another Kardashian-related piece of news! Kendall has been seen several times in the last week with ex-boyfriend, Chandler Parsons. Whether the interactions were coincidences or dates, it looks like this Kardashian has her astrological identity in line with the love sign.

3. Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale sang a duet

Well, if you're like most others on the planet, you did not know that Ashley Tisdale has a YouTube channel. In fact, on this channel, she features musical artists. After multiple requests, she had Vanessa Hudgens sing "Ex's and Oh's" with her and the world lit up with excitement.

4. Matt Lauer wears a choker on television

TODAY Show host, Matt Lauer decided to sport a very fashion-forward accessory on January 4th, 2017. He unbuttoned some of his collared shirt to reveal a thick, black choker. Needless to say, his female co-hosts found the gesture hilarious, but social media blew up.

PSA: the "choker trend" memorial service will be held soon and trend killer, Matt Lauer, will be tried in the coming weeks as police finalize their investigation.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
