My First NFL Game

Experiencing a great game

My First NFL Game

It's a Saturday morning as the Cowboys and Rams kick off the first pre-season game in Los Angeles. I wake up with excitement as I am about to experience my first ever NFL game with my Dad. As the clock ticks into the afternoon I get my Terrell Owens jersey ready to wear. As the time showed two o' clock, it was time for us to drive to the Universal City subway station.

Five stops late,r since the arrival of the station, we finally see a herd of Cowboys and Rams fans getting to the next train to get to their final destination, which is the Coliseum. After the final stop, my Dad and I made our way through a crowd of tailgating fans around the stadium. I finally realized that it was the start of a great season for the Rams' first game in California. After scanning our tickets we see people with Rams gears from retro up to the current jerseys. As we go through a long dark tunnel of our section we see a small light getting bigger as we move forward.

As it finally opened up, there showed the beautiful field with the NFL logo at the 50 yard line. Watching the Cowboys and Rams practice before game time made me feel more hyped for the season to start. Even though we had a far view I was able to see Tony Romo, Dez Bryan, and Jason Witten. The down fall was that Romo and Witten didn't play.

When it finally came to introduce both teams, the crowd made a big, hatefulness roar towards the Cowboys. As for me, I was the only one clapping it up for them. Before introducing the Rams, I felt the love people had towards the team. It was the moment I realized that these people were waiting a long time for this moment as they showed excitement. As the Rams were entering the field through the tunnel, the fans cheered on. Now it was game time.

The Cowboys started the game with a tempo as they made the first touchdown of the game on the kickoff. The Rams struggled in the first quarter as the Cowboys were leading 14-7. The second quarter was no different as the Cowboys made a touchdown and a field goal to end the first half. Rams fans knew they were down but they didn't care as the game over turned in the start of the second half. The Rams tried to catch up as they made a touchdown in the third quarter with a score of 21-14. In the fourth quarter, the Rams finally caught up as they were down by three points. About two minutes left in the game the Rams took the lead to make the score 24-28. In the final seconds, the Cowboys weren't able to make another touchdown.

After seeing a good game, I was very happy to finally watch my Cowboys play for the first time. Even though it was a loss, no disappointment showed on my face. With the Rams getting their first win, I can't wait to see what the regular season has in store. That was my first experience in an NFL game.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
