My First Month Playing Pokemon Go!

Pokemon Go. By now you have heard of it, and if you haven't? You might be living under a rock.

Despite all of the ups and downs, I have had mostly amazing experiences playing Pokemon Go!

These are a bunch of my favorite adventures.

Within the first week, I joined my team: Team Mystic!

I chose Mystic because I like blue, Articuno is one of my favorite birds...and most of my friends were on that team to start.

I had a Bulbasaur as my starter, (I didn't know which one I was choosing because they game glitched and I couldn't see any Pokemon out of the three that were there).

But honestly would have chosen Charmander if I had the chance to redo the opening scene with Professor Willow. but we all know that Venisaur is a total boss in Mega Evolution form....so I wasn't mad. I still need a Charmander though...In Buffalo, finding Squirtle isn't an issue and I have caught a few more Bulbasaur while playing. Maybe Charmander doesn't like Buffalo.

Within my first week I already made a Twitter page and a Facebook group for Team Mystic Buffalo and had a Hashtag #TM716 that has caught on already. Within a month of making the Twitter we have 276 followers as of August 5, 2016, and on Facebook we have 118 members. Anyone (no matter what team you are) can follow our twitter page, we post updates, memes and our best photos!

My first adventure out was with my coworkers on a lunch break, my favorite pic from that point was when a Jinx popped up in the middle of Main Street and Jewett:

I had my first adventure at Ellicott Creek, we got some great Pokemon and found a group of people that we sat down with having friendly banter. Later some of our friends appeared and we talked for a good while, took a gym and left.

North Tonawanda was the next stop. My friends and I had a hunch that there was an Onix nest there, so we went that way for half a day making friends with a few younger trainers catching Pokemon. The bonus was getting a free slurpee on 7-11 day. We caught many Onix, Pikachu and a Meowth. All very worthy catches within the first week of playing, this was my first Onix:

The best part was the night when we went to a different part of Ellicott Creek and roughly had a group of over 20 people in one place and took a group shot:

(I'm the one in the green sweatshirt in the middle)

My group also went on an adventure to Niagara Falls, took a gym:

And had these beauties pop up:

We even saved a seagull that night who's wing was damaged, we waited for at least 40 minutes for help to finally arrive:

That night we also witness a creative way trainers were trying to keep their phones charged...A long extension cord hooked up to a lamp post will do it...right?

The other popular spot we have adventured to was Canal Side. I've only been there a handful of times but that is where me and my group end up going most of the time. We're usually around the USS Croaker at the Naval Park.

It has been nothing but positive experiences all around (if you see us, say hi!).

There have been amazing catches there such as Pinser, Electabuzz, Dratini, Dragonair, Gyrados, Grimer and many other Pokemon that have had groups of over 100 people all move at the same time to hunt for these rare Pokemon spawn points.

Not only are there rare Pokemon there, but there are also amazing people. Canal Side has turned into a small community of people hooking up extension cords to lamp posts to share power (if they don't have a battery pack):

As well as people bring food to share and pass around with the other people playing. Hell we have even ordered pizza down to share:

Another place I've gone a few times is Niawanda Park down by the river. For awhile there were Sandshrew there which changed to Pikachu and then your other water type Pokemon, such as Poliwag, Goldeen, Magikarp, Staryu and many other Pokemon. These are my favorite ones I took:

The list can go on of all the other community experiences I have had, but these are the highlights. This is only the first month, I cannot wait for more adventures!

After all, we gotta catch them all!

If you play, follow our Twitter page (no matter what team you are on) and if you're on Team Mystic feel free to also to join our Facebook group. Also share some of your great experiences in the comments!

Christmas Tree
History.com

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
