Gingerbread houses are fun to make, but it can be very annoying when it comes to trying to put the pieces together. As someone who had never tried making a gingerbread house before, I thought people overreacting were just overreacting with how difficult it is. When I finally tried building one, I was proven wrong. The amount of times the gingerbread kept falling off was insane, but in the end, the mess we made and the thoughts of implementing our ideas to decorate the house was definitely worth it.

One of the reasons why building a Gingerbread house was worth it was the effort and time it took to make one. For my experience, it was a team contest on who can build the best gingerbread house, and one of the major points was to create a great theme. After a while, we thought of the theme we decided to use: Spongebob. As time went on, I quickly began to see why people said building a gingerbread house was annoying. The gingerbread wouldn't stick to the frosting, and as a result, it kept falling off and the frosting covered not the house, but us. The hardest part was definitely putting on the roof; the fact that it had to be in an almost perfect angle made things nerve-wracking, but in all honesty, trying to put it together was worth it. Sure, I got messy, but everyone was having a fun time as we tried to make the gingerbread house and instead of getting annoyed at the mess, we laughed it off and continued on with building. To me, that was one of the more important values of making a gingerbread house: just everyone having a fun time despite the mess that we made and having a good time.

Another reason why gingerbread houses is worth the effort would be the decorating. For our creativity portion of the contest, we decided to paint the roof with orange frosting and a small pineapple at the very top. Next, we used a Hostess cake as Patrick Star's house, along with a small starfish, and our final touch was a graham cracker Spongebob and a peppermint Gary. To me, that was the best part, and through decorating the gingerbread house I truly understood why people love it. The joy of putting frosting and other sweets on your house allowed your mind to think up great ideas to make the house look amazing, and the sheer creativity in all of that made the time worth the effort. Our minds had opened to think of new creative ideas to excel and make the best-looking gingerbread house, such as using food coloring to turn the white frosting to orange for the roof, and yellow for Spongebob graham cracker, and it all culminated into something extraordinary.

Our team manged to finish right on time, and despite us looking messy and covered with frosting and other sweets, our presentation looked great. We got second place, but what I loved the most was experience I gained from it, and I'm sure you will too!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
