To the first friend I made in college,

Move-in day is full of excitement, anticipation and hopes of what the next four years will hold. But it was also a day when you found yourself suddenly living in a new place away from your family and friends. Sometimes you might know a couple people that came from the same town, but chances are that you moved away for college because you wanted a fresh start with new people.

However, saying you want to make friends is easier than actually doing it. Most people have not had to make new friends in four or more years. Luckily the freshman dorms on a college campus are packed with eighteen year olds that want to meet people.

When I finally found someone I clicked with during that first week, it was like elementary school all over again. I had no idea who you were and you knew nothing about me. We had an instant friendship that grew more and more throughout the first semester.

I am so grateful we met that first week. Without you I wouldn’t have had someone to walk around and look for classes with or someone to go to the dining hall with.

I can’t express in words how happy I am that we met and instantly clicked. You’ve been nothing but an amazing person to talk with, study with and eat Mexican food with. It is not always easy to find a person who you can completely be yourself around. I can always depend on you to give great advice and be there when I need you.

Even though we haven’t know each other our whole lives, I feel like we have. You’ve become a major part of my life and I hate not seeing you over holiday breaks, but I know you’re always just a text away.

No matter what happens, you can always call me and I’ll come running. You meant more than words can describe to me this past year. I hope that you will always come to me when you need cheering up, a Zumba partner, or just need to vent about a teacher.

Thank you for being the person who was there for me this past year. I wouldn’t want to do college with anyone else.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
