The Eagles are an American rock band that was started by Glenn Frey and Don Henley in Los Angeles, 1971. They started their music career in a different band for Linda Ronstadt, but Frey and Henley both decided they wanted to create their own band. The duo asked Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner to join as well. Their first album, "Eagles",was released on June 1, 1972. Three songs from that album, "Take It Easy", "Witchy Woman" and "Peaceful Easy Feeling" became Top 40 singles. These songs among many more timeless and beautiful tracks such as "Hotel California", "New Kid in Town" and "Lyin’ Eyes" made them so well-known today. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 and have won six Grammy’s.
I grew up listening to their greatest hits album on every family road trip. I remember going to Las Vegas or Arizona while singing along to every song as my dad would play the drums on the steering wheel. I made a lot of special memories while listening to their songs. As I grew older I began to truly understand the meaning behind the songs and could sing to them, which made them even more special. I realized that the band held a special place in my heart and it would be a dream come true if I could see them live. Before I could watch them though, Glenn Frey passed away; it was very sad to hear the news. My dad would always remind me that these bands aren’t always going to be around. I realized now more than ever the time to see them is now.
Finally, luck was on my side because my dad told me that the Eagles were performing at Dodger Stadium along with other great bands like Earth, Wind, and Fire, Fleetwood Mac and Journey for The Classic West concert. It was an amazing experience; I will never forget it. Seeing my favorite band was absolutely incredible. Although Glenn wasn’t there, they had guest performers like his son, Deacon Frey, who I didn’t even know existed until that night. He looked a lot like his father, especially when he started singing "Peaceful Easy Feeling", which brought tears to my eyes as I sang along with many other loyal fans in honor of Glenn Frey. The Eagles' music is timeless and Glenn Frey’s memory will live on forever.
