In Madison, Wisconsin there are a ton of places to take people out on dates. There are so many that it might become very hard to choose that exact place for that perfect first date. With this guide to the best places to go on a first date, I hope that this will help make the decision a lot easier.

1. The Memorial Union Terrace

The Terrace is one of the staple places to visit while in Madison because it is right on Lake Mendota. There are lots of places to sit and talk over some Madison-made Babcock ice cream or some different food places that are located inside. It is a nice public place with lots of options for food and fun that would be a great way to start off a potential relationship.

2. The Henry Vilas Zoo

Flickr

This is Madison's FREE zoo that anyone can come and visit. They have a wide variety of zoo animals. It is quite the time and it offers plenty of time walking around in public with easy talking subjects available, like the animals, as well as food available. This would be a great spot for a first date because it is free and who doesn't like going to the zoo?

3. Picnic Point

Flickr

Picnic Point is a popular nature preserve along Lake Mendota where you can reserve fire pits, hike and walk along the lake. It offers immense beauty that would easily be a great place to take your date for the first time. There is always a great kissing magic in the air here that is typically associated with Picnic Point. So who knows, if you play your cards right, that might be the end you get as well.

4. Dane County Farmers' Market

The farmers' market is another one of Madison's main attractions. It is America's largest producers-only farmers' market and it happens every Saturday starting around 6:30 a.m. and going until around noon at the Capitol Square. It is a great place to walk around and there are plenty of stands to go visit giving you lots of conversation with your lucky date.

5. Dinner around Capitol Square

There are lots of options around the Capitol Square to eat, but some of the favorites to go to for a first date are Red (Japanese sushi), Old Fashioned (burgers and sandwiches), Lucille (pizzeria), Naples 15 (Italian restaurant), The Cooper's Tavern (Irish bar and food) and Cento (Italian restaurant).

These were some of the favorites mentioned, some are more expensive than others, but all of them have very good food and environments and all would be very good options to take a date for good food and to get off on the right foot.

6. Comedy Club on State Street

The Comedy Club is a great place if you and your date want to enjoy a fun night of laughter. There are open mic nights every Wednesday and there are planned comedians during the weekend that are always very good. It is a good way to make the first date a little looser because of all the laughter.

7. Concert at Majestic Theatre

This is a theatre on the Capitol Square where various music acts perform. The price can vary and there are usually decently popular groups there that have good music playing. It would be a fun time for any first date because you get to go and hear some great music and it would definitely set a great mood for the whole date.

8. Going to a park

There are multiple parks throughout Madison that you could bring your date. The two the most popular ones are Brittingham Park (along Lake Monona) and James Madison Park (along Lake Mendota). Both parks offer great views of their respective lakes. It would also offer a great place to bring some food and just hang out talking and watching the sun go down.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a ā€œreal person,ā€ I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minuteā€¦

If you go to or went to Kent State, then more than likely you have done or will do some of these things.

1. Youā€™ve slipped and fallen on the ice at least once.

The winters at Kent are brutal, and while the heated sidewalks and some great snow boots are always a help, thereā€™s no chance you wonā€™t bust it on the ice at least once in your four plus years at school.
