Why hello there! Thank you for stumbling upon my very first published piece of work! My name is Casey Sault. I am a junior (or third year as they say nowadays) at Keene State. Since this is my very first writing that is ever going to be published, I figured it’s only appropriate for me to introduce myself a little bit.
I was born in Connecticut in 1996 and still consider it my home. I moved to New Hampshire in 2011 and I also consider it my home (it took a long time, but I love it here). I graduated high school in 2014 and started college that very Fall. I came into Keene State as a Secondary Education and Mathematics major. Shortly after starting my first semester, I switched to Early Education and Women’s and Gender Studies.
I love baseball. I’ve been a Sox fan from the second I was born (thanks Dad!). I love Disney. I spontaneously burst out into song often. There’s almost nothing I wouldn’t do for a cup of coffee at any given moment in the day. I like the smell of laundry, but I hate doing it. I am a hopeless romantic. My recent binge watches on Netflix are New Girl and Friends. I have a hard time picking a favorite season because Summer is my birthday, but who doesn’t love Fall? I consider myself a passionate person. I love my friends immensely, and there isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for them. I’ve also been working at a childcare center for the past two years, and I find my job to be very rewarding (despite how difficult it can be sometimes).
I decided to write for Odyssey roughly two weeks after I heard about it. I think that it is important for me to have a place to share my thoughts with others and to create conversation about whatever my thoughts are at the time. With that being said, I don’t really know where this writing journey is going to take me. I want to talk a lot about my experiences, the information I’m learning about, and things going on in the world that strike or interest me. I’m hoping this new adventure helps me learn a lot about myself, the world around me, and my peers. I’m excited to grow and learn as a writer. I’m excited for my peers to read my work and for me to read theirs. I’m excited to share ideas and have discussions on upcoming topics and articles.
Mostly, I feel like I have a lot of questions about my writing quest with Odyssey. Will writing help me become more aware of current events in today’s world? What types of information am I going to learn from my peers? Will writing help me have more agency for myself? Will it allow me to value my own voice? What am I going to end up writing about the most? Well...I guess we’re just going to have to wait and see.
