If your family is anything like mine, you know the struggle that is finishing your Christmas shopping (or even getting motivated in the first place to go shopping at all). Some times, we struggle with deciding on the perfect gift for the perfect person, while other times, we struggle with not having enough time to finish.
But, maybe--just maybe--it doesn't have to be as difficult as you think.
Here are a few items that I propose can be bandaids for your last minute shopping efforts...at least for the college students on your list.
A Christmas Card with Money
I know, I know. You're worried about seeming unoriginal. And, perhaps, if that isn't your concern, you're worried that the recipient of this rather basic gift will think you didn't put much effort into it. After all, it's the thought that counts the most.
Wrong. We college students would greatly appreciate some extra money in our pockets. And, to better resolve the idea of doing something so simple in your minds, you could always put a little more effort into the message you write on the inside of the card.
Gift Cards
Again, these scream, "You didn't know what to get me, so you settled." But, if you know the person you're buying for well, you also probably know about their Chipotle addiction. Or, perhaps, you know about their Apple Music membership and want to pay for a couple months for them.
Don't you think they'd appreciate the fact that you paid enough attention to notice one or the other?
Dress clothes, Ties, Dress Socks, Etc.
The times when we would directly bypass the wrapped gifts oddly reminiscent of clothing boxes are over. Especially for the aspiring professional and/or for your favorite Greek life member, these types of things are the perfect gift. And, there's a multitude of different places that sell them--from Macy's to Banana Republic to Polo to H&M, and so on.
But, make sure you know them well before you buy these kinds of things (specifically their sizes). Exchanging clothing for the correct sizes can be time consuming, and we college students already don't have a lot of time to spare.
Concert or Sporting Event Tickets
I'm one of those people who has grown to appreciate experiences far more than material objects. And, buying these kinds of gifts doesn't even require you leaving the comfort of your own home. Get up from your seat, go and sit behind your computer screen, and navigate your way to stubhub.com or ticketmaster.com or any other site of the like.
However, again, just make sure you truly know the person you're buying for first; you don't want to buy them Steelers tickets if they're a Browns fan (but, who's really a fan of the Browns anymore?).
