FINSTAS 101

"Finstagrams," otherwise known as "fake Instagrams," are quickly taking interesting millennials by storm.

I hope, for your sake, that you have already invested the time and energy into making yourself one of these parody accounts for your friends enjoyment/your own personal satisfaction. If you haven't made your own, I can only hope that you've at least seen someone's "finsta" before.

"Finstas" obtain photos and videos that normally accompany hilarious captions that tell tall tales of embarrassing stories, calling other people out via their own "finsta," exposing your own secrets, or just simply putting up things that you want only your close circle to see (anyone who you allow to follow your account).

Finsta DO: Make a creative spin-off of your own name and make a clever bio to sum up your finsta-alter-ego.

Finsta DON'T: Don't make your name or bio too revealing. You want your friends to be able to identify you, not the entire campus.

Finsta DO: Let your school besties, home besties, siblings or cousins follow your finsta. Anyone who won't personally judge you for the idiocy you're posting is acceptable.

Finsta DON'T: Don't let every guy in any frat, girls you don't even know, your parents, or anyone of importance follow your finsta. If you were cool with anyone and everyone seeing what you post on your finsta, you'd just post it to your real Insta.

Finsta DO: Do post funny and embarrassing things that you don't want the entire world to find out about. Our unfortunate tales provide our friends with entertainment. *Trust is key to finsta*.

Finsta DON'T: Don't post anything that could get you or the school into any form of trouble. It happens!!!

Finsta DO: Post for your own enjoyment and humor. After all, this is your own finsta. Follow your own rules.

Finsta DON'T: Don't worry about your follower-to-following ratio or how many likes you're getting. This is a hidden account for a reason.

Finsta DO: Keep up with your account. Try to post every once in a while to keep up with your own shenanigans.

Finsta DON'T: Don't make a finsta, post a couple times, then ditch it. Any good finsta takes time, hard work, and creativity. Get on it.

Finsta's are a great way to get to know your friends even better on an entirely different level. I have all of my close friends on mine, and even some people who I'm just becoming friends with.

Nothing like following each other's finsta's in attempts to really read someone.

~Thanks to my brave friends who allowed me to expose their finsta's for this piece.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
