I guess there were a lot of expectations going into summer that didn't go quite as planned. All Summer 16. It's supposed to be the "illest and lit," summer of all time for this generation. You know, hanging out by the pool, living it up, partying I mean what's summer without partying and being free? Summer brings out the youth in you. For some, that means waking up every morning around 9 a.m., watching Spongebob while eating Cap'n Crunch. Maybe even staying in all day and going out all night. Or hanging with friends or going on field trips with your local summer camp. For me, just one week into summer and I'm already thinking, "Well, maybe next summer."
As a graduate, after you walk across that stage and receive that important piece of paper, it's like the world just bulldozes you and throws everything at you to get in your way. Unless you have a college fund, a decent job, and/or scholarships, you're basically stuck. You've got approximately three months to gather all the extra money you possibly can and splash, just like that, you're in the real world. You have no choice but to look back on the easy. All you have is memories. Now, it's up to you whether or not you dwell on it.
This summer has already taught me a lot. No matter how thrilling something sounds, and it may even change your life, it's best to take precautions. The only thing with as much power as faith is money. You need money for just about anything and everything nowadays. You find out who really wants to be in your life and who doesn't. Especially the ones who only dial you up when they need you to pick them up and take them places. With everything going on in the world today, especially with this generation of kids, it's safe to say that it's okay to turn down the turn up for a bit.
If you ask me, I'd take "Orange is The New Black" and "Chicago Fire," over being drunk and out of my mind. Any day. No, I'm not knocking anyone's game, but I know that I have plenty of time to "Pop Style."
