I Finally Finished A Screenplay, Y'all!

I finally did it!

If you've been reading for a while and seen one of my first posts, I tend to not finish screenplays.

And well, I did for once!

It took me 2 1/2 weeks to do so, and it feels oh so great! But what led me to this? Let's divulge shall we?

The year is 2012. I had just received a Macbook Pro in September. I immediately bought and downloaded from the App Store Apple's version of Microsoft Word: Pages. From there, I started to write what I thought was one hell of a story. It had drama, comedy and everything you would want in movie- or so I thought.

It was essentially my version of the UK hit series Skins! Now, if you're not familiar with Skins, it's this show on the UK station E4, and you might be lucky and find it on the BBC now and then. But this show in it's first series was everything. You had sex, drugs and literally rock n roll. It really was the teenage angsty drama in the early 2010's that everyone needed to watch, and had lot's of lesson's to be learned from it.

Anyways, I started to work on this screenplay for hours at a time on my laptop. I would spend hours trying to figure out what to write or how this would work for a film at the time. I didn't know the correct formatting for a screenplay and just wrote whatever felt natural or thought would fit. It took me and a few others at the end to make this into something resembling something that even FOX could pass on.

It took 4 years to finish it. That was my first screenplay and...it was terrible. My Friend Adrianna and her sister re-wrote most of it, but kept the general story intact.

This current one however, I learned from my previous mistakes and wrote my heart out and didn't stop for more than a couple days at a time. It's 25 pages, but it's a good 25 pages. MY co-creator Brandon and I put our heart and soul into it, creating something we could be proud of. He & I have been trying to get something going for a long time now and it finally feels like we've gotten some traction!

Stuck in a rut with your screenplay? Three words of advice: NEVER GIVE UP.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
